Arbeiten von John R. Tompson, Saul Villa, Elisabeth Wörndl


Der Maler aus New York, der Grafiker und Maler aus Mexiko und die Salzburger Fotokünstlerin entwickeln diese Ausstellung seit 2009.

Das biologische Wunderwerk Haut, die schützende Grenze des Körpers zwischen Innen und Außen, das bis zu 10 kg schwere und sich ständig erneuernde Organ, mit dem wir Menschen die Welt wahrnehmen, ist seit langem ein Thema, dass John R. Thompson, Saul Villa und Elisabeth Wörndl in ihrer künstlerischen Arbeit verbindet. Die Idee zu einem gemeinsam Ausstellungsprojekt entstand bei einem Projektaufenthalt von Elisabeth Wörndl in Merida, Mexico, 2009.

John R. Thompson nähert sich dem Thema grafisch und in Form von abstrakten farbigen Zeichen, Saul Villa malerisch, und Elisabeth Wörndl greift auf die Fotoarbeit „Digitales Selbstportrait“ von 1996 zurück und erarbeitet ein Video zu diesem Thema.

Geplant ist eine Art Wanderausstellung, die im September 2010 in Merida beginnt, und im November 2010 in Salzburg ihre zweite Station hat.

Jede Ausstellungsstation ist einzigartig und ändert sich je nach Bedingungen, Land, Ort und teilnehmende KünstlerInnen. Ein Ausstellungsprojekt führt zum nächsten. So werden möglichst viele Aspekte dieses vielschichtigen Themas aufgegriffen.

Ciudad de México 1958
Estudió técnicas gráficas de 1976 a 1982 con Frank Conelly, Mark Balakjian y Juan José Torralba en Londres y Barcelona.

Ha expuesto individualmente en El Clauselito, La Periferia, Museo Carrillo Gil, Museo Experimental “El Eco”, Casa Luis Barragán, Rupertinum y Galerie in Traklhaus Salzburg, Sala Germán Gedovius San Luis Potosí, Galería de Arte Mexicano, Galería OMR, Galería Arte Contemporáneo y Galería Juan Martin.

Ha participado en numerosas exposiciones colectivas en museos como The Metropolitan Museum of New York, Museum der Moderne Salzburg, Museo de Arte Moderno México, Museo Carrillo Gil, Museo Diego Rivera “El Anahuacalli” México, Galerie in Traklhaus Salzburg, y en numerosas galerías privadas.

Ha sido miembro del Sistema Nacional de Creadores CONACULTA.

Premio de Pintura de la Tercera Bienal Nacional de Artes Visuales de Yucatán.


Elisabeth Wörndl

Elisabeth Wörndl was born in Salzburg and lives in Salzburg, A. She has studied at Glasgow School of Art, Fine Art Photography and has had awards and residencies in Rome, Paris, London, Arizona, Chicago, New York City and Mexico City.

Elisabeth Wörndl works in the field of digital photography and video. In her work she explores her own body in connection with image-generated diagnostic instruments in relation to urban space or desert landscapes. She also deals with issues of contemporary normadic life and notions of identity.  
Elisabeth Wörndl‘s work has been shown in solo shows and group shows in Austria and abroad since 1992.
