Metropolis for trade fairs |

Salzburg claims to be Austria’s capital city as regards trade fairs. 22 special fairs attracted close to 220,000 visitors in 2002 to specialist fairs held in the Salzburg Trade Fair Centre (SAZ). The Salzburg Trade Fair Centre has furthermore an important additional effect: the trade fairs guarantee a basic occupancy rate for the hotel and catering industry but also bring in considerable additional revenue for other branches such as commerce. Salzburg is also the automobile metropolis of Austria. Most automobile importers have their headquarters in Salzburg. Thousands of jobs are guaranteed here by the giants of the car industry such as Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, Ford, Suzuki and Jaguar. Major international forwarding and logistic enterprises have also established themselves here at the crossroads of Europe. |
