The gorges of the rivers Salzach and Lammer in the Tennengau

Extending south from the city of Salzburg is Tennengau, its western border is dominated by the Göll massif, to the east the Gschütt Pass leads towards Upper Austria, and to the south the Salzach has dug itself a narrow bed over several thousands of years, deeply cut through the chains of mountains Hagen- and Tennengebirge. The gorges carved by the Salzach, known as Salzachöfen, close to Pass Lueg and those of the Lammer, Lammeröfen, between Scheffau and Abtenau, are in places up to 60 metres deep.
