Cross-border cooperation |

Since Austria joined the EU a EuRegio has been created in the border area with Bavaria. Communities from the regions of Salzburg, Berchtesgadener Land and Traunstein have joined together to organise cross-border cooperation. This concerns the exchange of information as well as cooperation in projects related to infrastructure. This cooperation is especially important because decisions on a regional and political level in the area surrounding the provincial capital Salzburg have massive effects even beyond the borders. It has long been the case that the capital city Salzburg no longer functions merely as a regional centre for the inhabitants of Salzburg land but also for citizens from communities in Bavaria. |
